Iroha is a character from the Samurai Showdown fighting game series. She is a crane who transforms herself into a Japanese maid. She serves her master and appears to think of him as the most important aspect of her life.
Appearance
Iroha wears a representational version of a maid's outfit, with a short white open kimono top with a short tassel in the front. She also wears a bow-ribbon like attachment that starts at her shoulders and ends on each side of her. She wears a black unitard underneath her kimono, and black cloth on her arms with white gloves and black thigh-high tights, with sandals and a small bandage on her left leg.
Personality
Iroha is an obedient and cheerful maiden. She deeply cares for her master, trying her hardest to stay in her human form whilst in front of him. She embodies the traits of an actual maid.
Abilities
Iroha fights using two Butterfly Swords, and is quite fast. She is an adept melee fighter, and has brief control over fire. She can also turn into her original form, a crane, in her finishing attack.
Story
Prologue
(From her backcover)
My name is Iroha. It is out of a large debt of gratitude that I serve and take care of my Master. Though we are by no means living a life of luxury, I can honestly say it brings me great joy to serve my Master each and every day.
However, lately Master has been acting unlike himself. Could something be troubling him? All he does is sigh all day...
No matter how many times I ask, all he ever says is: “It's nothing, you needn't concern yourself, Iroha.” Am I not doing enough in fulfilling Master's wishes? This saddens me...
But one day, I discovered Lord Tokugawa was to hold a fighting contest. Were I to achieve victory there, would that by chance be what it takes to satisfy Master's wishes!?
Just wait, Master! I'll definitely win this contest, and prove to you that I can fulfill any of your desires! That's how I decided I'd depart, seeking entry in this fighting contest.
Yet, my opponent today... what unconventional armor she is wearing, not to mention she's clearly unarmed. Could she be some kind of specter, an ogre perhaps?
Sure enough, can Iroha defeat these unknown opponents, and lay to rest her Master's worries?
They won't know that unless they fight.
Trivia
- Being very popular in Japan, Iroha has had a game made for her specifically, called Maid By Iroha.
- Her master is unknown, (rumored to be Andrew, as in the previous U.S.A. President Andrew Jackson back in the 19th century when America forcibly opened Japan to the world using "gunboat diplomacy") but is more likely to be the player him/herself as she often bows and speaks to the player before and after her fights.
- Her name is taken from the Heian poem of the same name.
